Trump he had realise $17 million for hurricane damage that staff, officials, do not recall

PALM BEACH, FLA.—Donald Trump said he received a $17 million (US) insurance payment in 2005 for hurricane damage to Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Palm Beach, but there is little evidence of such large-scale damage. Two years after a series of storms, the real estate tycoon said he didn’t know how much had been spent on repairs but acknowledged he pocketed some of the money. Trump transferred funds into his personal accounts, saying that under the terms of his policy, “you didn’t have to reinvest it.” In a deposition in an unrelated civil lawsuit, Trump said he got the cash from a “very good insurance policy” and cited ongoing work to the historic home. “Landscaping, roofing, walls, painting, leaks, artwork in the — you know, the great tapestries, tiles, Spanish tiles, the beach, the erosion,” he said of the storm damage. “It’s still not what it was.” Trump’s description of extensive damage does not match those of Mar-a-Lago members and even Trump loyalists. In an interview about th...

Plane that crashed in Malta was monitoring migrant trafficking off Libya for France

VALLETTA, MALTA—A small plane heading toward Libya’s coast to monitor migrant trafficking routes for the French government crashed soon after takeoff from Malta’s airport Monday, killing all five French crew members, authorities said. The twin-prop Fairchild Metroliner banked to the right and slammed into the ground in a huge fireball soon after lifting off at 7:20 a.m., according to video of the moment captured by a dashboard videocam and posted on Facebook. Malta’s government said all five victims were French. It said the flight was part of a French Customs surveillance operation tracing routes of illicit trafficking, both of humans and drugs, leaving Libya’s lawless coasts. Libya is the main point of departure for the tens of thousands of migrants who have been paying smugglers to bring them toward Europe by boat. Earlier, authorities had said the flight was headed to Misrata, Libya; the government said later that the aircraft was due to return to Malta within a few hours withou...

Mourinho give up the cause of negative results

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has suffered a serious knee injury and could face a lengthy period on the sidelines, according to manager Jose Mourinho. The Ivorian picked up the problem after a tussle with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard early in the second half of Sunday’s encounter. I am afraid it is a bad injury,” BBC Sport report the United boss as saying. “It is in his knee, the ligament area. He feels it is really bad.” Recovery from knee ligament damage tends to be measured in months rather than weeks and Mourinho will be hoping that the 22-year-old’s prognosis is not as bad as first feared. Bailly’s injury capped an unhappy return to Stamford Bridge for the Portuguese boss, whose United side were crushed 4-0 by the rampant Blues. Strikes from Pedro, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante ensured a comfortable Chelsea win after a catalogue of defensive errors from the Red Devils. Chris Smalling was named captain in the absen...

Last Sunday, when he disembarked from his plane from the US, his right arm appeared stiff and he instead used his left arm to wave and to shake hands with officials, raising more speculation among Malawians who are scrutinising every detail for clues about his health. He told the press conference he was unable to use his right hand then because of "slight rheumatism". "It's getting better now. I am really fine and there is nothing to worry. I hope that puts to rest the rumours about my health," he added to wild applause and dancing from supporters. Mutharika said if he was sick, he would have been "crazy" to leave the US and fly home. The former Chelsea manager received a respectful from the home crowd

Mourinho endured a torrid return to Chelsea, watching his Manchester United side concede a goal after 30 seconds as they slumped to a 4-0 defeat. The former Chelsea manager received a respectful reception from the home crowd as he emerged into the arena prior to kick-off -- but then saw his players fall apart in the opening moments. Marcos Alonso lofted a pass forward, United defender Chris Smalling left it and Pedro pounced, taking the ball around goalkeeper David De Gea to sidefoot home and score the fastest goal of the season so far. Shellshocked United briefly threatened to rally when Antonio Valencia crossed towards Zlatan Ibrahimovic, only for the Swede to direct his header over the crossbar. But the Blues were dominant, with one corner scrambled away from the waiting Diego Costa and Eden Hazard left free to drill another wide from the edge of the area before a quarter of an hour had been played. And Chelsea got the second goal their pressure had merited with 21 minutes on ...

Kenya received sh198 million as treasure refund for troops fighting Al-shabaab from European union

The Europe Union has released Sh198 million to the Treasury as refund for Kenyan troops fighting Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia after a seven-month delay attributed to a verification hitch. Treasury documents show that Kenya received the money in September with the last refund coming in February in a reimbursement that is meant to happen quarterly. Kenya received Sh4.2 billion from the UN in the first seven months of last financial year against a claim of Sh6.4 billion, meaning the country is owed Sh2.2 billion. It expects to receive Sh6.4 billion in the year to June 2017. The Treasury did not explain the delay, but earlier reports in the BBC indicated that payments for the 22,000-strong African Union force (Amisom) were being withheld over “accounting issues”. Nearly 4,000 Kenyan soldiers are part of Amisom and the international community provides $1,028 (Sh103, 828) for each Amisom soldier each month; their respective governments then deduct about $200 (Sh20,200) for ...

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign is acknowledging that it’s playing catch-up to Hillary Clinton, just as a new national poll shows the Republican nominee trailing his opponent by double digits. When asked on NBC News how she saw the state of the race, Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s campaign manager, replied that “We are behind.” “She has some advantages, like $66 million in ad buys just in the month of September, thereby doubling her ad buys from August,” Conway pointed out. “Now, most of those ads are negative against Donald Trump, classic politics, personal destruction...kind of ads. And that she has tremendous advantages.” During the run-up to the Nov. 8 election, however, Trump has also increased his television advertising budget. In  the third week of October , Trump’s campaign surpassed Clinton for the first time in TV ad buys, spending $14 million on advertising campaigns, versus Clinton’s $10 million Sixt...

South Africa – Democractic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane says his party intends tabling a motion of no confidence in  Pesident Jacob Zuma He made the announcement today in Cape Town. Maimane says he hopes that government officials who have raised concerns over Zuma’s leadership will vote with the DA in Parliament. “The only key actors who have to come into play, and perhaps it is these ministers who find their voice in public rather than when it matters most, which is to use the institution of parliament to be able to speak against Jacob Zuma.” He’s also urged African National Congress Members of Parliament to back the move. “This motion is about whether ANC will remain true because it faces two choices: either the parliamentary caucus can appreciate the societal malice or the fact that the entire ANC caucus is united behind this.”

Donnarumma gives A c Milan's three point

AC Milan's kids seem to have a bright future, two of them just combined talent and forces to give the Rossoneri a crucial win against Juventus at San Siro. The Old Lady lost the chance to clear off at the top and Milan managed to get just two points behind them, but it was a complicated victory which came thanks to a screamer from 18-year old Locatelli in the second half.  The first half saw how a goal was disallowed for Juventus, a free kick taken by Miralem Pjanic didn't count because of an off side position by Dani Alves. The second half saw Milan take the lead with a beautiful long-range goal to the top corner, but the real hero of the day was 17-year old Gianluigi Donnarumma. He made a tremendous save after a long distance shot came  to his left top corner and he managed to deflect it. His teammates celebrated with him as if it was a goal, it was the last play of the match.  This performance and several others in the past, have triggered some rumors of the young...

Republican presidential candidate promises to battle corruption, trim federal workforce

Donald Trump on Saturday pledged post-election lawsuits against every woman who has accused him of sexual assault or other inappropriate behaviour, and he charged Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Democratic Party with orchestrating the allegations. "Every one of these liars will be sued once the election is over," Trump said, adding, "I look so forward to doing that." Trump's threat overshadowed his intended focus during a speech in Gettysburg, Pa., that was billed as a chance for the Republican nominee to lay out his agenda for his first 100 days in office. Trump promised to institute a hiring freeze on federal workers and to label China as a currency manipulator, but he first seized on the chance to once again try to discredit his accusers. "Every woman lied when they came forward to hurt my campaign," Donald Trump spoke in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on Saturday to lay out his earliest priorities should he become president. He continued t...

Barcelona the prediction to win success says Sergio Busquets

Sergio Busquets , after the game against Valencia, a 3-2 win, spoke to the media: "As predicted it was a complicated game, like they always are at Mestalla. It was demading physically.  "We came into the game after a huge effort on Wednesday and the important thing today was the win. This will give a lot to the team. It wasn’t our best game, but it’s about winning no matter what and we’ve achieved that." On the refereeing decisions, the midfielder said: "There were a lot of controversial moments. When you lose, you complain to the referee. I think the referee was under a lot of pressure today and has given what he felt was opportune at each moment. I'll have to see all the moments to give my opinion, but what was clear is that it was a penalty at the end." And, logically, he's expressed his disappointment at the injury to Barça captain Andres Iniesta: "Andres’ injury is a shame. It’s a dangerous place to get a knock and it can leave you out for ...

Arsenal fall to draw 0-0 although had number of chances

Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes was kept busy but Karanka believes it was a full team performance. "I think we could have won the game but Petr Cech was the best player for Arsenal and we did a really good game today,” he explained. "All of our players played a key part today. Our plan worked which I am really pleased about and for 95 minutes we were 150 per cent concentrating on the pitch. "It is good to show everybody that we have a plan and now we need to look ahead to Bournemouth. "Victor in the last two or three years with his (cruciate ligament) injury, it has been the worst moments of his life in football. "When I signed him I told him he had to find his smile again and that was really important. He has been really good for us." Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, rued his side’s unusual lack of creativity. The Arsenal boss w...

Memorable Dinner to Clinton and Trump

he Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner isn't officially a roast, but that didn't stop Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump from delivering a series of zingers -- some of which received roars of laughter and applause, while others (namely those delivered by Trump) elicited boos from the gathering of well-heeled guests. Even though Clinton and Trump seemed displeased at times with some of the remarks, the pair did shakes hands at the end of the dinner, which is hosted by the Archbishop of New York, Cardinal Timothy Dolan. But it is a time-honored tradition at the annual white-tie dinner -- a fundraiser for Catholic charities supporting children in need held at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan -- for dueling presidential candidates to take jabs at each other. In 2012, for example, President Barack Obama and then-Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney also exchanged quips. Here, some of the most memorable zingers from the dinner: HILLARY CLINTON "People look at ...

China calls for new global currency

China is calling for a global currency to replace the dominant dollar, showing a growing assertiveness on revamping the world economy ahead of next week's London summit on the financial crisis. The surprise proposal by Beijing's central bank governor reflects unease about its vast holdings of U.S. government bonds and adds to Chinese pressure to overhaul a global financial system dominated by the dollar and Western governments. Both the United States and the European Union brushed off the idea. The world economic crisis shows the "inherent vulnerabilities and systemic risks in the existing international monetary system," Gov. Zhou Xiaochuan said in an essay released Monday by the bank. He recommended creating a currency made up of a basket of global currencies and controlled by the International Monetary Fund and said it would help "to achieve the objective of safeguarding global economic and financial stability." Zhou did not mention the dollar by name. ...
