Mourinho give up the cause of negative results

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has suffered a serious knee injury and could face a lengthy period on the sidelines, according to manager Jose Mourinho.

The Ivorian picked up the problem after a tussle with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard early in the second half of Sunday’s encounter.
I am afraid it is a bad injury,” BBC Sport report the United boss as saying.

“It is in his knee, the ligament area. He feels it is really bad.”

Recovery from knee ligament damage tends to be measured in months rather than weeks and Mourinho will be hoping that the 22-year-old’s prognosis is not as bad as first feared.

Bailly’s injury capped an unhappy return to Stamford Bridge for the Portuguese boss, whose United side were crushed 4-0 by the rampant Blues.

Strikes from Pedro, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante ensured a comfortable Chelsea win after a catalogue of defensive errors from the Red Devils.

Chris Smalling was named captain in the absence of Wayne Rooney, who had a thigh problem, but the England centre-back was arguably at fault for at least two of the goals.

United looked a far cry from the team who held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield on Monday night and Mourinho will be wondering how a side who produced such a solid defensive effort only six days earlier could ship goals in the manner in which they did here.

The 53-year-old must find a way of tightening up his backline quickly with the League Cup tie against rivals Manchester City coming up in midweek, but his task will not be made any easier with his star centre-half on the treatment table.

They were the country’s most controversial elections, with accusations of foreign interference and election rigging at the forefront; while the country’s first female president was elected. The South West Africa People’s Organisation’s (Swapo’s) Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah was announced as the president-elect on Tuesday night, with 57.69% of the vote. The announcement was made at the Electoral Commission of Namibia’s (ECN’s) headquarters in Windhoek, but many parties were absent — contributing to a sombre mood. Multiple parties, including the incoming official opposition party, the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), and the Landless People’s Movement (LPM) boycotted the announcement, as they do not recognise the election’s results. In a statement issued moments before the announcement, the IPC reaffirmed its...

The results of preliminary laboratory tests carried out by two teams of Australian scientists in collaboration with their colleagues from Denmark are encouraging about the hope of finding a cure.
