The incident of 13 years boy happened when he was hit by a truck in Lewiston main Street

A boy of 13 years old was hit and killed by pick up truck on Thursday, on Main Street in Lewiston. The teenager he was identified by mark cornelio.

Police said Jayden was crossing Main Street at Frye Street in a crosswalk when he was hit by a truck driven by Laurie Young, 54, of South Paris.

"She actually stopped. She knew she had hit someone, but then she stopped and didn’t know where he or she was. She didn’t know where they had gone until she walked around to the front of her truck and realized," Cornelio said.

The accident was reported just after 7 a.m.

"Heard this really horrifying screech and then we woke up and see everybody running," neighbor Richard Leet said.

Lewiston School Department officials said Jayden attended Lewiston Middle School.

Police said Jayden was in eighth grade.

Principal Jake Langlais held and assembly to inform students of Jayden’s death, and said counseling will be offered to students and staff.

"One of the most kind and friendly students. He was very polite. Most often had a smile. He was the kind of kid that everyone wanted to be around. Really nice young man," Langlais said.

Police said there are no crossing guards in that area and the boy was wearing dark-colored clothing.

An accident reconstruction team will determine if speed was a factor in the crash. Young was given a blood-alcohol test, which is standard for deadly crashes.

Police said Young was very distraught, but was able to tell them what happened.

"Best as we can determine is that she was not on her cellphone at the time. She just did not see him. It was rainy. It was dark, so it’s a possibility that the weather did have something to do with this," Cornelio said.

Kenya received sh198 million as treasure refund for troops fighting Al-shabaab from European union

The Europe Union has released Sh198 million to the Treasury as refund for Kenyan troops fighting Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia after a seven-month delay attributed to a verification hitch. Treasury documents show that Kenya received the money in September with the last refund coming in February in a reimbursement that is meant to happen quarterly. Kenya received Sh4.2 billion from the UN in the first seven months of last financial year against a claim of Sh6.4 billion, meaning the country is owed Sh2.2 billion. It expects to receive Sh6.4 billion in the year to June 2017. The Treasury did not explain the delay, but earlier reports in the BBC indicated that payments for the 22,000-strong African Union force (Amisom) were being withheld over “accounting issues”. Nearly 4,000 Kenyan soldiers are part of Amisom and the international community provides $1,028 (Sh103, 828) for each Amisom soldier each month; their respective governments then deduct about $200 (Sh20,200) for ...

Dreamworld family demanding the cause ; We want to know what went wrong?

No one wants those answers more than we do.” Speaking on behalf of everyone who loved his children, he noted that Dave had “lost the love of his life and the mother of their children, in the most tragic of circumstances.” Dave not only has to deal with his own grief, but be strong for their beautiful daughters. Our darling Evie, is only eight months old, and far too young to be without her mum. “And he must be a rock for his oldest daughter Ebony, who saw her mum’s life taken. “Only 24 hours earlier, my family was on the beach, taking Evie i...
